Madrid System

The Republic of India is a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) since 1st January 1995 (GATT: 8 July 1948).  Therefore it is bound by the TRIPS Agreement on IPRs having developed TRIPS compliant legislation. Since India's recent accession to the Madrid System in 2013 there has been a high influx of new international applications. Exchanging best practices and learning from the EUIPO experience in this field could help examiners to deal with their obligations under the Madrid System.
