Specialised training for trade mark and industrial design advisors and attorneys

On June 8 and 11, in Kolkata and Mumbai, two roving seminars took place where EUIPO experts and CGPDTM officials gave training on a range of topics:

1. The European Union Trade Marks (EUTM) and Registered Community Design (RCD) registration system and links to the Madrid Protocol and Hague Agreement (EUIPO)

2. Design application in India: a quick guide (CGPDTM)

3. Design application in the EU: a quick guide (EUIPO)

4. Indian practices / system relating to domestic and Madrid filing

5. 3D, colour and sound marks: challenges (EUIPO)

6. TM and GIs: pros and cons (EUIPO)

7. Overview of IP tools at EUIPO (EUIPO)


Over 100 participants, mostly attorneys and advisors, attended the events. According to the post-event survey, the overall perception reflected satisfaction of the attendees, stating the training met their expectations and were considered useful. Moreover, participants suggested that similar events, followed by training exercises, would be advisable. The events were also an opportunity for participants to network and to share knowledge on trade marks and designs in India.
